What to expect on your first visit.

While dental appointments may vary based on the nature of the visit, a typical check up will start with the assistant introducing themselves while walking you back to your dental room.

The assistant will discuss the nature of the visit today and any concerns you may have. The assistant will start with taking x-rays or if you have had current x-rays taken recently (within the last 6 months) we will upload these x-rays if you have arranged for them to be sent from another location. To send current x-rays, please email them to frontdesk@toothdocs.net These x-rays are important to diagnose any problems that may not be visible from just the visual exam, including issues with the jaw bones, any impacted teeth, abscesses, cysts, or tooth decay. After the dentist reviews the x-rays, the dentist will complete a full examination, including assessing your teeth, gums, and tongue. The dentist is checking for any signs or symptoms of disease. Exams are important to help maintain the best oral health possible. We try our best to maximize our time together and will try to do your cleaning at your first dental appointment with us.

It is important to us that every child has a great experience at the dentist.

During your child’s first dental visit with us our assistants and doctors will do everything possible to make sure your child’s appointment is efficient, stress-free and most importantly fun! Before your child meets our dentist, their assistant will explain the nature of their visit and show all their cool tools and gadgets they get to use. If able we will take x-rays, depending on the patient's age. We will then clean your child’s teeth and the doctor will then come in for a full examination. Tips! No teeth yet? Use a warm washcloth to wipe away bacteria from your baby’s gums and get him/her used to having their mouth cleaned. Normal age for a child to have their first dental visit is around 3 years of age.
